What it costs
For 2026 benefits, Amazon lowered the cost of its basic plan for U.S. fulfillment and transportation employees to $5 a week for employee-only coverage, down from more than $7. Doctor visits start at $5, compared with $40 before. Costs for other plans and for family coverage depend on the plan you pick and where you work, and your share is usually taken out of your paycheck before taxes. Amazon Flex and delivery drivers
Amazon Flex drivers deliver packages with their own vehicles as independent contractors. Amazon doesn’t list health insurance for Flex drivers, so they need their own coverage, usually a Marketplace plan. See health insurance for the self-employed.
Delivery Service Partner (DSP) drivers drive Amazon vans but are employed by independent delivery companies. Amazon requires those companies to offer health coverage that meets federal affordability and value standards to employees who average at least 30 hours a week, and Amazon says all DSPs provide health coverage to full-time drivers. The plan details are set by the DSP, so ask that company, not Amazon.
Before you’re eligible
If you’re part-time, seasonal or waiting on a start date, you may need coverage in the meantime:
- Stay on a parent’s plan if you’re under 26; see how long you can stay on your parents’ health insurance.

Job-based coverage vs. the Marketplace
Once Amazon offers you coverage that’s affordable and meets minimum value, you usually can’t get a premium tax credit for a Marketplace plan. For 2026, coverage counts as affordable if your share of the premium for employee-only coverage is no more than 9.96% of your household income (10.22% in 2027).
